Several area skiers ended up in the top 10 of the slalom competition on Day 2 of the Maine State Class B Alpine state championships at Saddleback Mountain in Sandy River Plantation on Friday.

Yarmouth took the girls Alpine team title with 1,483 points followed by Cape Elizabeth (1,464). The Rangeley girls team was third with 1,457 points.

The Cape Elizabeth boys skied off with the overall Alpine title, tallying 1,571 points, while Maranacook was second with 1,491. Gray-New Gloucester (1,372) took fifth, overall.

Dana Schwartz of Cape Elizabeth won the girls individual slalom state championship, finishing in 40.20 seconds, nearly four seconds faster than runner-up Brooke Boone of Yarmouth. John Bapst’s Olivia Rand was third.

Gray-New Gloucester’s Avalyn Beaudin came in seventh, while Leavitt’s Sophie Simard was right behind in eighth place. Rangeley’s Amelia Stokes placed 10th. Stokes placed sixth in the giant slalom on Thursday.

The boys individual slalom champion also hails from Cape Elizabeth: Tiernan Lathrop, who skied the course in 35.53 seconds. Wisdom’s Sam Roy took second and John Bapst’s Quinn Breen finished third.

Mt. Abram’s Charlie Pye just missed out on a top-10 finish, coming in 11th, while Mountain Valley’s Joel Tardiff slid in at 15th place.
