LEWISTON — Nancy Bard has retired as CEO of Great Falls Regional Federal Credit Union.
She held the position for 40 of her 45 years with the business. Her last day was Feb. 28.
Bard began her career at Great Falls as a teller in 1976, wearing multiple hats before becoming CEO in 1982. Through her efforts, she helped the credit union expand its member base across Androscoggin County, completed multiple successful mergers, and expanded the organization’s asset size to nearly 36 million in order to bring better financial services and products to the credit union, according to a news release.
“Credit unions were founded upon the idea of people helping people,” Bard said. “I am proud our small credit union still upholds that very important philosophy. I am happy to think I was able to play a role in assisting our members in their financial journey by being able to provide them with valuable financial products and quality services.”
Bard served her community by participating in multiple committees and boards during her years as CEO. She served on the Ending Hunger, Special Olympics and Financial Fitness Fair committees to help bring change among the community.
Bard is being succeeded by Catherina Blais from Monmouth Federal Credit Union upon completion of the Great Falls Regional FCU and Monmouth FCU merger.
