The Dixfield Historical Society recently received an heirloom quilt from the children and family of Marion and Jesse Holman. Jesse completed the quilt in 1987 shortly before her death. It is hand quilted, and the squares feature exquisite hand embroidery of all 50 state flowers, according to a news release from the society.

The Holmans lived and worked a dairy farm at the bottom of Morrison Hill in Dixfield for many years and were active in the community. Their oldest son Marshall was a selectman there for 14 years.

The society is appreciative of this gift and plans to place it on display this spring and summer at the Museum House on Main Street.
