Marie “Mary” May Couillard
AUBURN – Marie “Mary” May Couillard, 92, passed away Friday March 4, 2022 at Clover Manor in Auburn surrounded by family. She was born May 5, 1929 in Madawaska; the daughter of Philip and Marie (Saucier) Lamare. She was a long-term resident of 7th Street in New Auburn, and most recently resided at the St. Mary’s Residency.
Marie worked for local shoe shops for many years. She was a member of St. Louis Parish and Ladies of St. Anne. She enjoyed cooking for her family (with LOTS of butter), word searches, puzzles, crocheting and playing her French and country music records.
She is survived by four children, Mary Ann Couillard and Lenny, Dianne Collet and her husband Richard, Joan Peach and her husband Walter, and Pete Couillard and his wife Rachel Lebel; a sister, Gilmay Lamare, a sister-in-law, Lorraine Lamare; nine grandchildren, Anne Marie Mello, Catinna Newhouse, Michelle Emery, Ray Collet, Renee Irish, Lucy Kochis, Joshua Jarvis, Brittany Couillard and Zac Couillard; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Marie was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence J. “Pitou” Couillard; her parents; and four brothers, Norman, Herman, Phil Jr., and Gilman Lamare, four sisters, Bernice Michel, Vera Lamare, Joan Labadie, and Ruth Martin.
The family would like thank Doctor Hattan and wife Robin as well as Hospice nurse Margaret Quinn for their compassionate care of Marie.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 16 at The Fortin Group, 217 Turner St., Auburn.
A Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 16 at the Sacred Heart Church, 8 Sacred Heart Lane, Auburn. Her family requests masks to be worn to show respect for everyone’s well-being
