REGION — Maine School Administrative District’s School Board of Directors will have a new face from West Paris.

Veronica Poland of West Paris was selected as its new representative at Saturday’s annual town meeting. She replaces William Rolfe, who recently decided he would not run again.

The open school board seat started as a three-way contest between Poland, Ellen Gibson and Dara Kimball and took three ballots before Poland eventually won the seat. Needing one more than 50%, or 26 votes, Poland got 22 votes on the first ballot, with Gibson 17 and Kimball 10.

The second ballot left Poland one vote shy with 25 votes, followed by Gibson with 15 and Kimball with 9. After Kimball dropped out, Poland won on the third ballot, 31-16.

In Waterford, voters selected two representatives for the school board. Judy Green was voted to her fourth three-year term. Newcomer Catherine (Kitty) Winship was voted to a one-year term. Winship was recently appointed as an interim director to replace Barry Patrie, who stepped down last fall. Both Green and Winship ran unopposed for their seats.
