AUBURN — The School Committee approved a capital improvement plan Wednesday which would bring upgrades to nearly every school in the district.

The projects are not definite yet, and will be reviewed by the City Council.

According to the plan presented by Business Manager Mark Conrad, half a million dollars will be allocated to improving playgrounds at each of Auburn’s elementary schools. Washburn Elementary School’s greenspace and East Auburn Community School’s play space would be expanded.

Each of these three projects would be paid for using federal relief money.

Part of Walton Elementary School will receive new roofing, and the wheelchair lift at Sherwood Heights Elementary School will be replaced.

New tables and chairs will be purchased for Auburn Middle School to replace the originals purchased in 1980.

At Franklin Alternative School, renovations will continue with upgrades to the interior and exterior of the front entryway.

These and other projects will total an estimated $400,000 in projected expenditures.
