Henry W. Harlow

RUMFORD – Henry W. Harlow, 85, died Sunday March 13, 2022 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by his family. He resided on Washington Street in Rumford and Oquossoc.

Born in Rumford on June 20, 1936 he was a son of Charles and Mildred (Bulger) Harlow. Henry was a graduate of Stephens High School and the University of Maine at Farmington with a master’s degree in Education. He was a school teacher and coach in Dixfield, Haverhill, Mass., Amesbury, Mass., York, and Pasadena, Texas and was a union organizer for the AFL-CIO.

Henry was married in Rumford on June 26, 1959 to Nancy McCollough who survives of Rumford. Other survivors include his daughter, Michele Harlow Jewells and husband Blaine of Johnston, R.I.; grandchildren Melodie Newman of Boston, Kyle Newman of Westborough, Mass., Rachel Harlow of Conroe, Texas, Matthew Jewells of Rhode Island; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sons, Charles W. and Darel W. Harlow; and a brother, Charlie W. Harlow.

Henry was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and enjoyed his summers at Rangeley Lake with the love of his life, Nancy, of 63 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 p.m. on Saturday March 19 at the Parish of the Holy Savior St Athanasius – St John Church 126 Maine Ave, Rumford. Interment in the spring will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley. Friends and family are invited to call at the Meader and Son Funeral Home, 3 Franklin St., Rumford on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m.
