David C. Moore
LEWISTON – It is with very heavy hearts that we would like to let loved ones know of the unexpected passing of David C. Moore, 58, of Lewiston, on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
David was born on August 28, 1963, and raised in Lewiston, son of Bronson Moore and Diana (Darling) Moore. He enjoyed traveling with friends over the years but was always most comfortable at home in Lewiston – in fact he purchased and resided in his childhood home which he took great pride in.
David was employed by Thomas Moser furniture in his younger years, as well as Bates College before becoming self-employed.
David was a huge sports fan; he enjoyed playing golf, disk golf, skiing and any other pick up sport that was offered. His favorite sports story to tell was how he had a unique opportunity to share in the ownership of a horse named “Sweet Vendetta”. “Sweet Vandetta” against many odds won the May 16, 2008 Black-Eyed Susan Stakes at Pimlico Race Course. David’s face lit up talking about the excitement of the win and the fun time he had being involved in it.
You would not want to play poker with David as it was a no win situation for you; his face would not give anything away unless he wanted it to.
Some of David’s other interests included family history. He took pride in his grandfather Mush Moore’s dog sledding story from Alaska to Maine in the 1950s, as well as his father, Bronson Moore, being a local political figure which is probably one of the reasons he took such an interest in today’s politics.
Friends of David or “Dave” as he was often called, would say he had a unique way of making all of them feel like they were “his best friend”. He liked to reminisce and tell stories of days gone by. He would say where most people had to exaggerate their stories, he had to tone his down. His sense of humor and his “Daveisms” made everyone feel equally picked on in a good way. When contacting Dave or him you – the first word out of his mouth would be “Yo”, if you could not reach him all you would hear is “Leave a message”. There are many messages we all would like to give him today.
David and his infectious smile will forever be missed by those who loved and cared for him.
David is predeceased by his father, Bronson Moore, survived by his mother, Diana (Darling) Moore of Auburn; sisters Kelli Moore of Lewiston, Trudi Budek and husband Tom of Turner; nephews Thomas Moore and his partner Shyan Houle of Lewiston, Jason Pleau and his fiance Jen Mackenzie of Turner, niece, Katie Pelletier and husband Adam of Livermore; great-niece, Gwen, great-nephews Jack and Ian; as well as many lifelong friends.
A celebration of life will be planned in the near future for family and friends.
