Florence Janice “Jann” Cummings

LEWISTON – Florence Janice “Jann” Cummings, 84, a resident of Oak Park in Lewiston, passed peacefully at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, eight days shy of turning 85. She battled cancer for 10 months. She was born on March 16, 1937, in Livermore Falls, the daughter of William H. and Florence (Buzzell) Cummings. She attended school in Livermore Falls and moved to Connecticut with her parents and finished school there. She was a beautician while living in Connecticut. She later moved to Ocala, Florida with her parents and son Donato “Dondi” Ferrante. Her favorite jobs were working in bookstores and later at Stein Mart. After her father died, she lived with her mother. They made many summer visits to Maine. In March of 2020 she moved from Florida to Maine to be close to family.She is survived by a brother, Malcolm Cummings and wife Jean of Plainville, Conn., a sister, Evelyn Wilkins of Lewiston and a sister-in-law, Noreen Cummings of Livermore Falls, her nieces, Cathy McQuarrie, Julie Dumond, Pamela Lewis, Stacey Linehan, Tara Chabot and Jennifer Depalo, her nephews, Clayton and Jeffrey Wilkins, William, George, Jaye and Dana Cummings and many great and great great nieces and nephews and her Maine Coon cat, Glory.Aunt Jann was predeceased by her son, her parents, her brother, George Cummings, two nephews, Bradley Wilkins and Brian Cummings, her Godson.
