Edward Little grad and University of Southern Maine freshman Jacob Jackson was named the Little East Conference’s Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Jackson won both the long and triple jumps at the Bates Quad Meet on Saturday, and also took third place in the high jump. His mark of 1.80 meters in the high jump is tied for the highest mark in the conference.

RACINE NAMED GOALIE OF THE WEEK: For the second time this season, Lewiston grad and University of Southern Maine sophomore Cece Racine has been named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Lacrosse Goalie of the Week. The latest honor was announced by the conference Monday.

Racine stopped 16 of 23 shots in a win over Wellesley last Wednesday, then stopped all four shots she faced while playing the first half of a win over Castleton on Saturday. Racine finished the week with a .741 save-percentage.

UMF DUO WIN NAC AWARDS: University of Maine at Farmington women’s track and field teammates Emily Hargreaves and Charlotte Wentworth each picked up weekly awards from the North Atlantic Conference on Monday.

Hargreaves, a Gray-New Gloucester graduate, was named the Field Athlete of the Week after collecting three top-10 finishes at Saturday’s Southern New Hampshire University Spring Invitational. Hargreaves took sixth place in the hammer throw, eighth in the discus and 10th in the shot put.

Wentworth, a first-year student and Messalonskee grad, was tabbed the conference’s Women’s Track & Field Rookie of the Week after taking seventh place in the 800-meter run at that same meet, and also running a leg of the fourth-place 4×400 relay team that finished with the second-fastest time in the conference so far this season.
