POLAND — The Select Board wants to be included in the discussion involving the proposed Lake Auburn Watershed Ordinance.

At Tuesday night’s meeting Selectperson Stanley Tetenman said residents contacted him about the Lake Auburn situation. He asked whether the town should be allowed to cite their concerns with the proposed ordinance, since part of Poland is hooked to the Auburn water system, including Poland Spring Water Co.

Select Board Chairperson Stephen Robinson echoed Tetenman’s sentiment.

“Should they be talking to us?” Robinson said. “As a municipality user, should they be having a discussion with us so we have a voice at the table?”

By consensus Tetenman will write a letter and Select Person Mary-Beth Taylor will read it at the April 12 Auburn Planning Board public hearing.

Town Manager Matt Garside said he will contact Auburn officials and reserve a spot for Taylor at the hearing.

In other matters, Garside told the board he submitted a congressionally directed spending request of $598,276 to U.S. Sen. Susan Collins to upgrade the Transfer Station.

Garside provided a list of improvements such as paving an area for construction debris and pressure treated lumber piles, extending the concrete apron near the trash compactors, laying down an apron for the roll-off containers, constructing a shelter for the compactors and containers, and replacing the station office.

The Select Board awarded the paving and grinding contract to Spencer Group Paving in Turner for $497,924.

On-The-Line Inc. was selected as the low bidder for road striping for $10,529.

Robinson and Jane Pentheny were re-elected as Select Board chairperson and vice chairperson, respectively.
