AUBURN — Olivia Rioux doubled twice and drove in five runs, leading Poland to a 16-1 five-inning victory over Gray-New Gloucester in a season-opening Western Maine Conference softball game played at Central Maine Community College’s turf field on Thursday.
Gretchyn Paradis added three hits and three RBIs for the Knights. Gabbi Bolduc, Emma Bunyea, Emma Gagne and Atlantis Martin each hit a double, and Savannah Tash belted a triple. Martin was the winning pitcher, recording five strikeouts.
Maisie Lerette had two hits for the Patriots. Heather Nevells recorded a double.
GIRLS LACROSSE
WELLS 16, ST. DOMINIC 5: Kayleigh Michaud-Nolan, Grace Ramsdell and Anna Woodward each posted four goals as the Warriors cruised past the Saints for an opening-day win in Wells.
Ramsdell had five assists while Michaud-Nolan and Woodward both had three.
Emma Roy led St. Dom’s with three goals. Natalia Russell made two saves in net.
