Eric Brakey cares about affordable health care.

After decades of big business and big government in control, our healthcare system is worse than ever. One problem is the anti-competition law (called “Certificate of Need”), which protects monopolies by requiring providers to get permission from existing competitors before adding or expanding health care services.

People should think about that. If AT&T had to ask permission from Verizon before adding new cell phone towers, what would happen? Verizon would be the only game in town. Cell phone bills would cost twice as much.

Why would it be any different for health care? And that’s why states with anti-competition laws have higher average health care prices.

Sen. Eric Brakey sponsored legislation to restore competition. Sadly, his Democrat opponent voted to protect monopolies and helped kill reform.

I’m voting for Eric Brakey to represent Auburn, New Gloucester, Poland and Durham in the Maine Senate.
