Calling all events, everybody! If you are part of an organization that is putting on an event in the greater Oxford Hills area during 2022, please send it along to the Chamber so we can list your event on our website and in our upcoming 2022-2023 magazine coming out Memorial Day Weekend.

And, by the way, you can just go to our website and list your event without having to go through the hassle of getting it to us. Just look for “events” on our menu at the top of the front page and then plug it in.

Businesses, keep sending us your available employee positions so we can promote them on the “On-Air Job Fair” aired each week on WOXO FM and WIGY FM, part of the Bennett Radio Group. We are getting lots of great positions we can promote every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. Just send them along to me at john@oxfordhillsmaine.com.

Guess what? It’s racing season again here in the Oxford Hills.

Oxford Plains Speedway, a member of the Chamber and the state of Maine’s center for local stock car racing, will open the turnstiles for another great year of racing on Sunday, April 27.

I hope everyone realizes just how important this facility is to the economy of Oxford Hills. Every week from late April through October, this historic 3/8th mile oval attracts thousands and thousands of visitors to our area. The Mayberry family has a terrific schedule of racing events headed our way this Spring, Summer, and Fall, including the Championship Series, the Acceleration Series, Motor Mayhem, the Pro All-Star Tour, and the American-Canadian Tour.

And, of course, that includes the biggest single-day short track race in America, the 49th running of the Oxford 250, which will bring competitors from all over the east coast and Canada to the Oxford Hills to battle for the richest purse in a short-track race in the east. Finally, thousands of race fans from all over New England and beyond will descend on our area for more than a week, providing all kinds of opportunities for businesses to benefit from the campers looking for places to go and shop and eat, etc., etc.

Finally, we just finished producing our bi-weekly podcast, The Bottom Line, in cooperation with the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, hosted by yours truly and the president of the Maine State Chamber of Commerce, Dana Connors. This week’s guest was Craig Larabee, the CEO and president of Jobs for Maine Graduates, which works within the school systems at the middle school, high school, and community college levels to help assist students in need to reach their potential. A terrific program that is creating an opportunity for those that normally may never have been given the chance to succeed at any level.

Check it out on our website at oxfordhillsmaine.com,

See you next week.
