Apologies to Leo Camire and his business on the South Arm Road known as South Arm Select, which came out in last weeks paper as South Arm Selectman. However the error which occurred between my submitted column and the published paper was good for quite a few laughs around town and gave Leo a new title.
The Andover Alumni Association has announced that it will have a gathering honoring the class of 2022 on Sunday, May 22 at 2 p.m. in the Town Hall. Usually there is a big banquet on Saturday evening of Memorial Day weekend, but due to COVID-19 concerns the event is being scaled back so that this  year’s class may be recognized. Scholarships and book awards will be presented and refreshments will be served.
The Olde Home Day Committee met on Thursday evening. Buttons were scheduled to arrive on Friday and should be available in the next few days for purchase. The T-shirt sketch is not yet completed. The contest to name our moose has a deadline for entries of July 15 and is open to children residing in Andover from age 4 through 12, so get your thinking caps on. Entry forms will be available shortly. The next meeting will be the third Thursday of the month, May 19, 6 p.m. at the Town Hall.
There was an article in the Sun Journal on Saturday interviewing three candidates for the Board of Selectmen to be elected on June 14, following annual Town Meeting on June 11.  Originally, there were four candidates, but Doug Averill dropped out of the race. Joe Luce is the incumbent and the others are Kevin Scott and Toby Wells.  Be sure to plan to vote. Hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
From time to time someone will bring interesting artifacts to the Historical Society or to the “Liar’s Table” at Mills’ Market. The other day Freeman Farrington showed up with a wooden board named the Talley Board that was used at Lester Farrington’s Lumber Mill on the East Andover Road by the East Branch of the Ellis River. The board was used as a record of what size wood and how much was sawn when the mill was functioning which, incidentally, was when I first came to Andover in 1974 and for a few years after that time.
If there are any proud parents or grandparents who have relatives graduating from high school or college this year and would like to have their names appear in this column, please send the information to me at jcrich@twc.com or call 392-3761.
