Albin J. “Ben” Lizotte

AUBURN – Albin J. Lizotte, 90, was born in Lewiston on May 25, 1931, the youngest of three children of Wilfred and Blanche Lizotte. There’s a hole in our hearts for the man that some of us referred to as Dad, Gentle Ben, Captain Whitehead, or just Grampa Ben.

In the early morning of May 6, 2022, Dad passed away with his family by his side. There was a beautiful sunrise and the eagles were heard and seen soaring over the river. Dad loved sitting on his porch for hours watching the eagles.

Ben grew up in Lewiston, where he received his education. On June 7, 1952 he married the love of his life, Marjorie (Marge) Hopkins. After their marriage they moved to Auburn where they raised their family.

Ben was a painter by trade, best known for his 30+ years at Bath Iron Works. Ben was a member of the National Guards, serving as a Corporal; also a sharp shooter.

Family meant everything to Dad. As he would always say “Love you more!”

Dad enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his yard as often as he could, caring for his apple orchard which he planted for retirement. He spent many years hunting with his family. He also enjoyed ice fishing, as well as ocean fishing, always finding joy taking family and friends out in his boat.

Dad grew up playing sports, including baseball, hockey, and volleyball. One of his greatest pleasures was attending his grandsons sporting events, and then later attending his great grandchildren’s events. Even at 90 years old he was still attending.

Dad is now in a happy place with his loved ones that have passed, especially the love of his life, our Mom, and our brother Tommy.

Survivors include his son Mark Lizotte and his wife Linda, his daughter Patricia Provost and her husband Patrick; his five grandsons, Steven Lizotte and his wife Katie, Jeffery Lizotte and his wife Becky, Seth Provost and his wife Trudie, Scott Provost and his significant other Kristalyn Phipps, Corey Provost and his wife Heather; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his best friends Maurice and Claudette Nadeau and Judy Campeau.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Marjorie; son Thomas; and his brother Norman and sister Yvonnette.

Special thanks to Carrie, Lisa, and Nancy at St. Mary’s Pulmonary Rehab.

Heartfelt thanks to Androscoggin Hospice, and Elite Home Care for the love and care they all provided our Dad during his last few months. Know that he loved and cared for you as much as you did him; always remember your hugs and kisses.
