Janet A. Wheeler

LEWISTON – Janet A. Wheeler, 63, of Sabattus, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Central Maine Medical Center with her loving family by her side following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Lewiston on March 12, 1959 the daughter of Roland and Jeannette (Bourgoin) St. Amand.

She attended Sabattus schools and was a part of the first graduating class of Oak Hill High School in 1977, where she was later employed in the kitchen as a Lunch Lady for over 25 years. She made an impact on the faculty and students throughout the years and received recognition for her dedication, hard work and commitment to the school.

Janet was a dedicated mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt to her whole family.

She is survived by two sons, Lyle J. Wheeler and his wife Marie of Bradford, Randy Wheeler and his wife Courtney of Leeds, one daughter, Amanda Mitchell and her husband Todd of Poland; her mother of Sabattus; eight grandchildren, Colin, Garrett, Dylan Wheeler, Benjamin Wheeler, Preston, Abigail, Madelyn and Wyatt Mitchell; one brother, eight sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Lyle K. Wheeler whom she married on August 14, 1976, and who died on Nov. 13, 2021; her father; and one brother.

Funeral services honoring Janet’s life will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home followed by graveside committal prayers at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sabattus. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., Monday, until the time of services at the Pinette Dillingham & Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway in Lewiston, 784-4023.
