BUCKFIELD – Tony Bachelder, 65, of Buckfield died on May 6, 2022, at home peacefully at home after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 11, 1956, to Walter and Vilda (Moody) Bachelder, He was one of 15 children.

Tony was a lifetime member of the Maine State Beekeepers Association, member of Buckfield Fire Department. honorary member of Faith Bible Chapel.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and looked forward to hunting with his family and friends every year, many moose hunts, many fishing trips to New York. He enjoyed the countless hours telling stories, laughing and having coffee with family and friends, tending to his bees, fixing things, but most recently of telling others of the love of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Tony had been a beekeeper since 1975, grew to be the largest year-round beekeeper in the state of Maine. He had a passion for the bees and was very good at it, people came from all around to learn about beekeeping from him. He assisted many people in getting started in the bee business. Before that he was a supervisor at Oxford Homes, He was an auto mechanic in Buckfield for many years.

He was predeceased by his parents, one daughter Hope Joy, three brothers, Walter, George, Leonard. Two sisters Irene Hafford, Noreen (Sawyer) Chamberlain.

Surviving him are his wife of 48 years Rebecca (Rich) Bachelder, Three sons, Steve Campbell and his wife Heidi of Hartford, John Bachelder and his wife Dawn of Buckfield, Tommy Bachelder and wife Andrea of Buckfield. Two daughters Wendy Damon and partner Juan Torres of Sumner, Sherry Carrier and husband John of Buckfield. 12 grandchildren Abigail (Campbell) Guerette and Husband Mitchell, Ashley (Campbell) Gagne and Husband Gerry, Linwood Damon, Elizabeth Damon, Brianna (Damon) Warren and Husband Jesse, Kylie Carrier, Brittany Carrier, Justin Bachelder, Laura Bachelder, Thomas Bachelder and Gracie Bachelder. one great-grandchild Quorra Gagne, five brothers, Leland of Avon, Earl and wife Janice of Friendship, Dalon of Leeds, Denis and wife Cheryl of Pembroke, Steve and wife Lisa of Leeds. Four sisters, Glenis Jackson of Avon, Christine Hafford of Wales, Deanna Hewins of Leeds, Evelyn Ray and husband Vern of Greene. Many nieces and nephews. Special Thank you to the many friends and family who visited and helped Tony through the process including his nephew Roger Paradie who was always there for Tony when he needed him. Also to the folks at Beacon Hospice and Elite Hospice who assisted with the home care of Tony.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, but there is great joy in knowing that he has finally been set free and is home at last with His Lord and Savior

A memorial service will be held on June 18, at 3 p.m., at Faith Bible Chapel in East Buckfield.
