
Andrea T. Spiro Sr.
LEWISTON – Andrea T. Spiro, Sr. “Andy”, 88, of Auburn, died Friday afternoon May 13, 2022 at CMMC with family at his side.
He was born in Auburn, August 4, 1933, a son of Tasi and Nastasi Spiro. He grew up in Auburn, was educated in Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1951. Following high school, he enlisted in the military and served his country in the U.S. Army until his Honorable Discharge.
On Sept. 1, 1956, he married the former Danielle Baker and together they lived in Massachusetts for a number of years, during which time he obtained a degree from Franklin Tech Institute and went to night school at Suffolk University in Boston, while working for Raytheon Corporation, he later transferred to Maine and continued to work for Raytheon Corporation. Later they settled in Pleasant Valley, N.Y. to raise their family, during which time Andy worked many years as an engineer for IBM until his retirement.
After retirement in 1984, Andy and Danielle returned to Auburn and traveled around the U.S. for a number of years. Having been a military veteran himself, Andy was a member of the American Legion and an especially strong supporter of all of America’s military branches and its soldiers.
He enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, listening to music, traveling, spending time with his family, and was an avid golfer, a family man and a friend to all who knew him. For many years, during golf season, he played often and enjoyed lunches and rounds of golf with several friends every month, once you were a friend of Andy’s you were a friend for life. He was a loving, devoted and hardworking husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Danielle Spiro of Auburn; his son, Andy Spiro, Jr. and wife Starla of Orange Park, Fla., his daughter, Rhonda Sandoval of Phoenix, Ariz; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Anesti Spiro.
