Raymond F. Thibault

AUBURN – Raymond F. Thibault, 95, a longtime resident of 36 Cook Street, Auburn, passed away peacefully at Schooner Estates in Auburn surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

He was born in Auburn on Nov. 10, 1926, the son of Alphonse and Ida (Lavoie) Thibault. He was educated in Auburn schools, leaving school to join the U.S. Navy in 1944, during WWII where he served as a coxswain, petty officer third class, until he was honorably discharged in 1946.

Raymond worked as a superintendent and pattern maker for Bell Moc shoe factory for 31 years until they closed and he moved on to Arno Moc shoe factory where he worked for another 11 years. After that he went on to work as the general manager for Frye Boot Company, for three more years, before retiring in 1988. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, as well as serving as a eucharistic minister at St. Louis Church. He belonged to American Legion Post 153, where he was an active member for many years.

He leaves behind his three daughters, Patricia Roy and her husband Donald, Louise Bradford and her husband Lindy, and Ann Michaud and her husband Paul; along with 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of almost 70 years, Rita (Bouchard) Thibault of Lewiston; his parents; and his brother, Laurent Thibault.

Raymond’s family would like to thank the team of hospice nurses and health care providers that took care of him and provided him with amazing care and comfort.

Visitation will be held at the Albert and Burpee Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 24, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Services will be Wednesday, May 25, 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. Memories may be shared at http://www.albert-burpee.com.
