100 Years Ago: 1922
The annual strawberry festival will be given by the Ladies Social Union of the Sixth street church Thursday evening. Supper at 6:30 is in charge of Mrs. Ada Shaw will include cold meats and salad also.
50 Years Ago: 1972
The Rumford School Garden club will hold an entertainment in the municipal hall on Saturday evening. Each school will put on one act, made up of folk dancing, little plays, drills etc. In the afternoon there will be a free exhibition by the high school and grade schools showing the advances made in language and arithmetic throughout the year, also there will be two classes in penmanship, one from the second grades and one from the fourth grades, will be conducted showing the methods used in teaching this subject. The results obtained will be exhibited. These clauses will be under the direction of Mr. DeCosta, superintendent of drawing and writing.
25 Years Ago: 1997
The Delta Gamma Honorary Teachers Society will honor all retired teachers at 6:30 pm Tuesday at Auburn Middle School. Dessert will be served at 6:30 pm, followed by a musical show, featuring Phil House and some other acts. Door prizes will be awarded. Retired teachers are invited.
