Alfreda (Giroux) Arsenault
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Alfreda (Giroux) Arsenault, 101, died at Vero Health and Rehab in South Hadley, Mass., on April 16, 2022. She was born on Jan. 19, 1921, the last of ten children of the late Edward and Evangeline (Desrosiers) Giroux of Rumford, Maine.
She lived in the Rumford area most of her life where she attended school, later settling in West Peru. Freda worked at the paper mill for several years until retirement, when she took care of her mother. She moved to Massachusetts in 2010 to be near her niece, Paulette Wiley and family.
She was previously a communicant of St. Theresas in Mexico and later St. Johns in Rumford.
Freda loved gardening and was an avid crafter making beautiful home and holiday decorations. She also made toys and knitted clothing for the orphanage in her younger years. She was a spitfire until the end.
Freda was predeceased by her husband Bernard in 2007. She leaves several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Freda will be held Friday, June 10, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at S.G. Thibault Funeral Home, 250 Penobscot St, Rumford, Maine 04276, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m.
