DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Center for Wisdom’s Women in Lewiston is hoping that among Sun Spots readers is a woman who would like to join our team as a volunteer companion.

We need someone on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Companions are women with backgrounds in social work, teaching or similar backgrounds. Our companions provide a non-judgmental and caring listening presence for the women who drop in. They are simply present when someone needs to talk.

Please keep in mind that most of these shops accept only women’s clothing. Some specialize in vintage clothing and all of them expect your consignments to be in tip-top condition. Be sure to call ahead so you’re certain about what the different shops are accepting at this time and to make an appointment if needed. There are many consignment shops further afield and the fun part is that each are different and have their own features and style.
