Eric Scott Ames
WEST PARIS – Eric “#1 Son” Scott Ames was a loving and caring son, grandson, nephew, and friend to many. He left this world unexpectedly on June 12, 2022, at the age of 37. The only child of John and Carolyn (Billings) Ames, Eric was born in Norway, on Jan. 25, 1985, and lived most of his life in the Oxford Hills area, while spending several winters in sunny Florida, a place he cherished. He attended local schools and graduated from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School with the class of 2003. Eric spent his life surrounded by family and friends, learning new skills and trades at a young age, beginning with helping his grandfather, Henry “Bampa” Billings, with household projects. Eric began working while in high school at Reid’s Service Center in Oxford under the mentorship of Kevin Billings, and spent over a decade learning small business operations. He then started his own company, Ames Enterprises, alongside his father, where he employed friends and provided general contracting services including home improvement, building, carpentry, painting, landscaping and snow plowing. He maintained a long standing relationship with Chris and Heidi Charlton, and helped maintain their extensive property in South Paris. Eric was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need, stranger and friend alike, and made friends easily. In his free time, Eric enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. He loved spending time outdoors, snowmobiling, boating, 4 wheeling, camping, and riding his motorcycle and scooter. Most evenings he could be found “having a few cold ones” and joking around with his buddies in “the triangle.” Eric will be greatly missed by his father John Ames Jr, mother Carolyn “#1 Mom” Ames and stepfather Dana Pray, aunt Lea Grigsby and her husband Bryon, uncle Andy Ames and his wife Donna, uncle Scott Moore, maternal grandfather Henry Billings, and many great aunts, uncles, “cousins”, and extended family. He was predeceased by his greatest cheerleader – maternal grandmother Josephine “Grammy” Billings, paternal grandmother Rose Rice, and aunt Betty Ames, and great Uncle Allen Richter. Friends and family are welcome to join together at a Celebration of Life event on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the American Legion Hall, 12 Church St., South Paris, at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the care of Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris. Online condolences can be shared with his family at http://www.chandlerfunerals.com.
