RUMFORD – Mrs. Dawn J. Richard, 84, died Friday June 17, 2022 at Rumford Hospital. She was a resident of Carthage, Maine. Born in Rumford on Jan. 12, 1938, she was the daughter of Guy and Esther (Horne) Jamison. She was a graduate of Mexico High School and worked as a swabber at Diamond Match.

Dawn was married to Lance Mark Porter who died in 1975 and was later married to Francis Richard who died in 1988. Dawn loved jigsaw puzzles, watching Gunsmoke and playing cards and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Survivors include three daughters Kathy Hutchinson and husband Bruce of Carthage, Lorna Burhoe of Jay, Landy Blouin and her husband Bill of Rumford; a brother Timothy Jamison of Mexico; grandchildren, Scott, Lana, Terri, Ryan, Kelsey, Kayla, Kristen, Kelly, Allen, Jamie and Andrew; many great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law Jill Porter of Gwynn, Mich., her longtime companion George “Sonny” Downs of Carthage and his children Jamie Downs of Bowdoinham, Tammy and Jeff Smith of Rumford, Rosemarie and Dan Richard of Dixfield.

She was predeceased by two sons, James “Jimbo” Porter, Lance “Mark” Porter; brothers Harold Jamison, Guy Jamison, Jerry Jamison, Charlie Jamison, sister Marilyn Stearns; and son-in-law Mike Burhoe.

Funeral Services will be held on 1 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Meader and Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., Rumford. Interment will be in St John Cemetery, Rumford. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 to 1 prior to the funeral.
