Jean M. Cote

AUBURN – Jean M. Cote, 88 a resident of the Sarah Frye Home passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022, at the Androscoggin Hospice House following a brief illness. Jean died just three days shy of her 89th birthday which she was looking forward in celebrating.

She was born in Lewiston, June 26, 1933, the daughter of Harry and Dorothy (Moran) Cote.

Jean was a 1951 graduate of Lewiston High School, and the Auburn Maine School of Commerce and her career began with the former New England Telephone and Telegraph Company where she was employed as a manager for 35 years retiring in 1991. She developed lifelong relationships with her phone company friends and co-workers.

Following retirement, she enjoyed golf at Pine Acres in Auburn. She also enjoyed dining at the Chick-A-Dee Restaurant on a daily basis. The Hird family at the Chick-a-Dee treated Jean like family and she loved them all.

The most important thing in her life was her love of her family. Jean doted on three generations of nieces and nephews as if they were her own. Her generosity was bountiful. She was thoughtful and kind to everyone she knew. Jean will be sadly missed by all.

Survivors include four nephews, James Lepage and wife Debbie of Vermont, Michael Lepage and wife Jennifer of Rumford, David Lepage and wife Leslie of Charlottesville, Va., and Sandy Nisbet of Minot; four nieces, Nancy Ezhaya of Windham, Patty Lebel and husband Bill Rogers of Portland, Lynn Fitzpatrick-Lepage of Rumford, and Sally Arseneault and husband Dick of Hanover; beloved twin sister, Joan Lepage and husband Charles of Rumford; as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Isabelle Lebel and her husband Oscar (Pants) Lebel; one niece Karyn Lebel and her niece Nancy’s husband David Ezhaya.

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring Jean’s life will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday July 1, at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn. Graveside committal prayers will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lewiston.

Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday June 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Pinette Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home 305 Alfred Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.
