AREA — The Community Lakes Association (CLA) is conducting three Invasive Plant Patrol trainings. The key to protecting our ponds and lakes from invasive infestation is prevention, early detection, rapid response, and management. Early detection through volunteer Invasive Plant Patrols is crucial to helping save our lakes and ponds from ecological and economic disaster.

10 a.m., July 23 – meet at the Lake Christopher, Lake Road boat launch.
10 a.m., August 13 — meet at Round Pond boat launch (across from the Local Hub).
We will conduct a brief orientation on land where we will provide sample invasive plants and conduct an identification session. Then kayak out to designated areas, each attendee will receive a waterproof invasive aquatic plant identification booklet to use when patrolling the pond. We will learn how to carefully collect plant samples for closer examination. Bring your canoe or kayak. If you need to borrow one please contact Cheryl – [email protected] (207-890-6761)
The CLA’s mission is: “to protect and improve the ecosystems of our lakes and ponds and promote respectful stewardship among all users of the waterways in Greenwood and Woodstock.”
