Larry Clinton Peterson

LEWISTON – On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Larry Clinton Peterson, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away eight days shy of his 79th birthday. Larry was born on June 30, 1943, in Chesapeake, Va., to Samuel and Marie Peterson. A classically trained musician, he joined Leon Claxton’s “Harlem in Havana” review show as a drummer, playing 10 shows a day across the U.S. and Canada.He was a member of popular bands in Maine, such as The Delta Knights, and his drumming electrified crowds. He often played with famous artists, including Wilson Williams and the Platters. Larry (“Pete”) is a 25-year retiree of Central Maine Power Company. Larry was involved in the community and became a Mason and a Shriner, drove a school bus for several school districts, played in the orchestra pit in local theater productions, and was a drum instructor. Larry is survived by his wife of 41 years, Nancy Enid Peterson; daughters Joy Marie Peterson, Tiffany Zara Peterson, and Crystal Rona Suarez; granddaughters Lily Wynter Suarez and Casey Walsh Storey, grandson Garrison Maxwell Storey; sisters Gloria Ricks and Marilyn Moss; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Brandy Walsh Storey Fortune; brother Samuel Peterson, Jr., and sisters Linda Peterson and Gwendolyn Cuffee. Family and friends attended the celebration of life service and reception on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the Christ Temple, Church of God in Christ and the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch.
