JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – John L. Weldon of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2021. He was born Nov. 2, 1931, in West Forks, Maine, to Lawrence and Mildred (Cyr) Weldon. He graduated from Bridgeton Academy, Dresden. In 1954 he graduated from Farmington State Teachers College with a BS in education, receiving his first teaching position in September 1954 at Lisbon Grammar School staying in the Lisbon School system as Teacher and Principal, retiring in August, 1985.

On April 12, 1958, he married Barbara A. Russell of Durham. John received his master’s degree in administration from the University of Maine, Gorham campus in 1973 to proceed as principle of Lisbon Elementary School and later principal of the Philip W. Sugg Middle School. The children over the years of his teaching and principal, were his life.

In August, 1988 he and his wife moved to Mannheim, Germany, taking a sixth grade teaching position at the Mannheim Middle School, teaching military children, retiring again in June of 1994.

He was survived by his wife until her death on Dec. 21, 2021; a brother Joel Weldon of Dresden, until his death April 2022; a son Stephen Weldon and his wife Corena of Auburn; a daughter Sandra and husband John Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter-in-law Elaine Weldon of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Courtney Weldon of Saco; Garrett Weldon of Lewiston; Audrey and husband Clint Dona of Jacksonville, Fla.; Ben Weldon of Jacksonville, Fla.; Samantha Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla.; Alison Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla.; Jonathan and wife Trista Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla.; Anthony Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla., and two great-grandsons, Colton Dona and Jackson Radomski of Jacksonville, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews of Durham.

John was predeceased by his mother and father; a twin brother, Joseph; a son Michael Weldon of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister in law Doris and her husband Bruce Dupal of Durham.

At John’s request there will be no funeral services but however a celebration of life at Marion T. Morse Rec Center in Lisbon Falls on July 16, 2022.
