DEAR SUN SPOTS: I found a new pendant with the store tag still attached in the Pleasant Street area of Lewiston. Please call 207-783-9739 and leave a message to describe this item and where it was purchased.—No name, no town

ANSWER: We have had good luck over the years with helping lost items find their owners and vice-versa. Let us know if you find the match for that necklace.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I see you did a story about Cyndi Pratt leaving University of Maine at Farmington, but I do not remember reading an article about the new athletic director. If by chance I missed it, could you refer me to that article?—Sharon, no town

ANSWER: UMF Assistant Athletics Director Cyndi Pratt has said goodbye to the college after 18 years to serve as athletics director at her alma mater, Mt. Blue High School, where her dad was also a football coach.

Longtime UMF coach (and UMF graduate) Jamie Beaudoin took the helm June 3 as athletics director, succeeding Julie Davis. This article appeared July 15 in The Franklin Journal. (www.sunjournal.com/2022/07/15/jamie-beaudoin-selected-as-new-umf-athletics-director.)

The article outlines Beaudoin’s career thus far and explains his responsibilities moving forward. We all wish both Jamie and Cyndi well in their new roles as they work to inspire Maine’s athletes at UMF and Mt. Blue.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am new to the L-A area and love Sun Spots. I need a seamstress for clothing alterations, and would also like to find a talented seamstress to sew clothing from store-bought patterns and some from my own designs. I used to sew but my poor eyesight has begun to hinder me. Can you help me find someone to help?-Lorena, no town

ANSWER: First, I am sorry to hear about your eyes. I have several people you can contact. In the Rolodex, I have Sue Roebuck — “Mom the Mender” — on Upper Street in Turner. Her telephone number is 207-754-6558; LA Clean & Spin/John’s Clean & Spin, with 20 years of experience with alterations, repairing, and restoring clothing. Another option is Lolita Ateliers (www.lolitaalters.com). Located at 158 Court St., Suite #14, in Auburn (in the Engine House), she is a trained seamstress who does alterations, upcycling, custom designs, gives private lessons, and more.

You can schedule an appointment through her web site or by calling her at 207-405-3750. Her hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. On Monday and Saturday, she is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Another person who may be able to help you is Dona at If You Say Sew in Durham (www.if-you-say-sew.business.site/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=referral).
