Holly K. Woods

TURNER – Holly K. Woods, 59, of Peru, passed away on Friday Aug. 26, 2022, in an automobile accident on Rt. 4. She was born in Rumford on April 22, 1963, one of two children born to James and Patricia (Parlin) Thomas.

Holly was educated in Mexico schools, graduated from Mexico High School in 1981 and remained a lifelong resident of the Mexico and Peru communities.

On May 26, 1984, she married the love her life, Ronald Woods, of Mexico and shortly thereafter, they eventually settled in Peru to raise their family.

Holly first worked for State Cable for a time and then later worked several years for Oxford Federal Credit Union. But her real passion and drive evolved around children and education and in 2003, she graduated Magna Cum Laude as a Dean’s List Student from The University of Maine at Augusta with an associate degree of Arts in Liberal Studies. Holly immediately began her career in education as an Ed Tech, and was getting ready to start her 20th year teaching in the local community. She was currently employed at Meroby School in Mexico. She loved her students and always cared deeply about their progress and successes and took great pride in their accomplishments. Holly loved her family deeply and enjoyed quality time with them, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. Among her favorite enjoyments in her free time were traveling, hiking, time in the outdoors and relaxing on any beach. Her favorite quote was “Do it while you can and do it while it matters.” Holly was a loving, devoted and hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, sister and daughter who will be dearly missed.

She leaves behind her husband of 38 years, Ronald Woods of Peru; her son Ryan Woods and wife Bianca and their two children, Rennen Woods and Kael Burnham of Peru; her daughter Amber Bowie and husband Curtis and their daughter Olivia of Hollis; her father James Thomas of Mexico; her sister Kathy McKenna and husband Ray of Peru; and many other cherished loved ones. Holly was predeceased by her mom, Patricia Thomas.
