BOOTHBAY — Gavinn Martin scored three rushing touchdowns and Telstar held off Boothbay’s fourth-quarter rally to earn a 36-35 8-man Small School South football win Friday.

Gavinn Martin had three rushing touchdowns, and the Rebels (3-2) held off the Seahawks (1-4) in Boothbay.

Will Doyle and the passing game got the Rebels offense going in the first quarter. Doyle threw 50- and a 60-yard touchdown passes to Evan Leach, and the Rebels converted both two-point conversions on to take a 16-0 lead.

Boothbay cut the deficit to 16-6 with a TD near the end of the first quarter.

Martin scored on a 40-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. Martin also converted the two-point attempt, and the Rebels’ lead was up to 24-6.

Later in the quarter, Martin punched the ball in from a yard out for a 30-6 lead. That score was set up by Bode Leach’s 40-yard interception return to the Boothbay 1-yard line.

After neither team scored in the third quarter, the Seahawks put up 21 straight points in the fourth to cut their deficit to 30-27.

Martin all but put the game out of reach with a 4-yard touchdown run that extended Telstar’s lead to 36-27.

Boothbay scored as time expired in the fourth quarter and converted on the two-point attempt to get within one point.

SANFORD 48, EDWARD LITTLE 8: Quarterback Jordan Bissonnette had three short touchdown runs, and LJ McFarland added a pair of rushing TDs as the Spartans (3-2) cruised past the Red Eddies (2-3) at Sanford.

Edward Little trailed 27-0 before scoring on a 48-yard pass from Tate Morris to Bennett Dubois late in the first half. Bissonnette answered with a 2-yard run that made it 34-8 at halftime.

DIRIGO 35, SACOPEE VALLEY 6: Quarterback Charlie Houghton scored two touchdowns and threw two TD passes, leading the Cougars (4-1) to a win over the Hawks (1-4) in Dixfield.

Houghton connected on a 4-yard TD pass to Dakota Tompkins and then tossed a 30-yard pass to Trent Holman for another touchdown. Houghton also delivered 6- and 20-yard touchdown runs.

Trenton Hutchinson opened the scoring with a 35-yard touchdown run. Bode Gray led the Cougars on defense.

Sacopee Valley’s Austin Croteau scored on a 5-yard touchdown run.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 58, TRAIP 0: Jyrrmal Yates and Adam Gammon each ran for two touchdowns in the Falcons’ (5-0) victory over the Rangers (0-5) in Rumford.

Yates flashed 37-yard and a 19-yard scoring runs in the first quarter. The opening quarter also saw Lucas Libby tally a 52-yard scamper for a score. Robert Leveillee added two scores in the first 12 minutes with a 61-yard punt return and 21-yard run.

After the Falcons scored five times in the opening quarter, Tyler Warren threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Seneca Jones for the only score in the second quarter.

Gammon scored his first TD with a 6-yard run, the only score in the third quarter.

Warren threw a 34-yard pass to Zackary Putnam for a TD in the fourth quarter, and Gammon rounded out the scoring with a 16-yard TD run.
