Kenwood Jordan Kimball

AUBURN – Kenwood Jordan Kimball, 93, passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2022 in Auburn, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 7, 1929 to George and Margie Kimball, Ken grew up in Yarmouth.

Ken attended North Yarmouth Academy and graduated in 1947. Upon graduation he joined the United States Navy and became a submariner stationed in Groton, Conn.

After completing his enlistment, he returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Joan Johnson. Ken and Joan raised their six children in Mechanic Falls. Ken was employed for over 30 years at Soule Glass and Paint as a draftsman and estimator, and was a manager of the Lewiston branch. At the age of 55, Ken and his business partner Jerry Belmore established the U.S. Glass and Aluminum Corporation. Ken remained with the company until his retirement.

A long time resident of Mechanic Falls, Ken served several years on the Mechanic Falls town council and school board. As a born-again Christian, Ken displayed dedication to serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family, and country. A former member of Marston’s Corner Baptist Church he enjoyed being an Awana leader, singing in the choir, and serving on several boards. Most recently Ken attended East Auburn Baptist Church.

Ken will be missed and remembered by his family as a cheerful and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He instilled in his children the values of honesty, integrity, and hard work.

A competitive athlete Ken seemed to quickly master every sport he put his mind to. He enjoyed card games, skiing, team bowling, and golf.

Kenwood was predeceased by his wife Joan.

He is survived by his children Jennifer Carter and husband Robert Carter, Jr. of Standish, Michael Kimball of Winthrop, Mary Jo Johnson of Auburn, Kathi Haak of St Albans, Vt., Tracy Harris of Poland, and Kenwood Kimball, Jr. of Auburn. Kenwood is also survived by his seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A private family service was held.
