A special time capsule will be sealed Tuesday at 7 p.m. when the Livermore/ Livermore Falls Historical Society meets at the Treat Memorial Library. Members of the Five-Town Bicentennial Commission have been collecting items for the capsule since 1993 when planning began for the 1995 celebration in Canton, Fayette, Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

Representatives of the five towns have been invited to take part in the sealing and area residents are welcome to add items of 1997 importance. The capsule will be opened at the half century mark, in 2045, more items will be added and it will be repacked to be opened again for the tri-centennial in 2095, similar to the Livermore High School time capsule packed in 1930 which was opened in 1980 and repacked. Last year students and teachers from two schools submitted letters addressed to their grandchildren in the year 2095. They will be honored Tuesday for their participation. Area residents who wish to add letters to their grandchildren or great-grandchildren of 2095 are welcome to do so on Tuesday.

In addition to the time capsule, the society will hear from Donald Simoneau, commander of the George Bunten Post, American Legion, who will talk about his work in recording information about area veterans and cemeteries.

Refreshments will be served by Nellie Tidswell, Lew and Linda Lyman, Ralph and Eunice Campbell.
