In a few short weeks we will be headed to the polls for decisions that will effect not only our lives, but the lives of our children and grandchildren.

Voters should do their research and look at the issues being brought to the forefront.

(1) The privatization of Medicare and Social Security — we can’t let that happen.

(2) Banning of rights for women to control their own bodies. It has already happened in many states; people should be aware.

(3) The banning of gay marriage and LBGTQ rights, for which individuals have worked long and hard.

(4) Book banning. Is that what we want in Maine?

People should educate themselves before they vote. I hope they show up at the polls on Nov. 8.
