TURNER — A driver who spotted a fire Sunday evening and responded to a burning mobile home on Academy Drive found the occupant on the ground, Turner Fire Chief Nicholas Merry said Monday evening.

The resident, who was not identified, was not injured.

Merry said a driver traveling down Center Bridge Road saw a red glow in the sky and pulled into the resident’s driveway. “The (driver) found the person who was living there outside on the ground. He had crawled out of the house,” he said.

The occupant’s dog also made it out safely.

The home was destroyed.

Merry met Monday with an investigator from the Office of State Fire Marshal, and the cause was ruled  accidental.

Turner Fire Department was assisted by departments from Buckfield, Sumner and Canton.

“It was another good showing from mutual aid again having two fires in two days,” Merry said. “Couldn’t have done it without them and everyone did a good job.”

On Saturday evening, fire damaged a home at 267 Howes Corner Road and reignited Sunday, destroying it.
