AFCI
One of AFCI’s best-used services is our N2N (Neighbor to Neighbor Rides Program). Did you know that – depending on available drivers – we can take you to doctors’ appointments, even if they’re out of town? We can take you on shopping trips or to the movies or to a friend’s house- or to any of the community activities listed weekly in this column.
One happy rider says: “The N2N program has been a godsend to me, as I no longer drive outside the immediate area and have called on this service for doctors’ appointments in Norway and Rumford. This year, I put my car up for the winter and found the service again invaluable for trips to the Health Center, Drug Store, and Tai Chi. I have enjoyed my trips with the friendly, helpful drivers.“
All of the above services depend on the availability of drivers, and we need additional volunteers. Would you like to help? Call 824-4444, and an N2N volunteer will give you lots of information and help you get started.
Walk the Gym and Tai Chi are back! Starting Tuesday, November 29 and running through the end of March, both classes will be held in the Gould Academy Field House (note: NOT the Bingham Gym, as in the past).
Walk the Gym runs from 1:00-2:00 and does not need registration; just show up. Tai Chi is from 2-3 p.m.; registration is required, as class size is limited (to register: Karen Reilly, [email protected] or 617-549-1890).

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
