Mystery Photo for Nov. 13, 2022. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
We had more incorrect answers for last week’s Mystery Photo than correct ones. There were a half-dozen people who incorrectly thought it was the former Beth Abraham Synagogue in Auburn that has been converted into apartments. The photo was actually taken on the Bates Street side of the Dominican Court Apartments at 56 Birch St. in Lewiston. The structure, originally named Dominican Convent, was built in 1909 with 8-foot walls surrounding the building for the privacy of the nuns living in the convent. It is currently being used as housing for the elderly. In a random drawing from all the correct entries, David Gudas of Lewiston was picked to win a $20 Hannaford Supermarket gift card.
