Roland R. Canuel

LEWISTON – Roland R. Canuel, 83, of Lewiston, passed away at home with his wife by his side on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. He was born in Lewiston on August 28, 1939, a son of the late Omer and Carmen (Berube) Canuel. On May 20, 1961 he married the love of his life Anita Goyette.

Roland served in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper, beginning in 1956, completing his service in 1959.

He worked as a truck driver for Lepage Bakeries then at Sanborn (APA) retiring in 1996 after 17 years. After retiring he started R&R Construction doing paving, septic systems and plowing which brought him great joy.

Roland enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, having cookouts and lobster feeds. He looked forward to his yearly deer hunting trips with his brother Roger and nephew. He also enjoyed playing games on his computer and puttering in his garage; working on cars and small engines.

He was predeceased by his brothers Omer Canuel, and Roger Canuel, as well as his sister Jeannine Monier

Roland is survived by his wife Anita of 61 years, sister, Muriel Minkowsky; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Jeannine Berube, Matt Goyette, Rick and Linda Nelson for all their help and support during this difficult time.
