UMA Nursing Sim Lab

RUMFORD — People interested in a career in nursing are invited to visit the one of the many statewide information sessions that the University of Maine at Augusta will be hosting on Thursday, December 8, from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. The information session will have both in-person and virtual options. Prospective students will learn about UMA’s 4-year Bachelor of Science in Holistic Nursing (BSN) program, how to transfer credits from the State Community College system, and will be able to view the simulation labs at the various locations.

UMA’s Holistic Nursing Program prepares potential students with skills in clinical practice, communication, critical thinking and writing, research, and leadership. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is rapidly becoming the preferred educational credential for registered nurses. UMA’s program helps students earn this credential by offering a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Holistic Nursing. Holistic nursing focuses on the individualized care of the patient based on the principle that a patient’s biological, social, psychological, spiritual, and environmental aspects are all connected and need to be attended to individually while fostering healing relationships.

There are options for Fall and Spring entry as well as full-time and part-time options to help meet students where they are in their path to a Nursing degree.

The information session will provide prospective students with a program overview, demonstration of hands-on simulation in the locations that students attend, interaction with Nursing faculty, admission information, and the opportunity for a question-and-answer period and more.

The information session will take place locally at the UMA Rumford Center located at 60 Lowell Street in Rumford. UMA’s Rumford Center is one of eight UMA centers located across Maine. A virtual option is also available for those not able to attend in person, but prospective students are encouraged to attend in person to view the state-of-the-art simulation labs at each location.

UMA Centers have helped thousands of people connect to UMA courses and degree programs so they can earn the credentials locally that they need to advance in their jobs or to begin new careers. The professionals at UMA’s Rumford Center are experts at helping students’ pursuits of higher education and with providing the local support they need to reach their educational goals.
