RUMFORD — Zach New paced Mountain Valley with 19 points in a 58-45 MVC boys basketball win against Winthrop on Friday.

Will Gallant added 10 points in the win for the Falcons (2-3).

Matt Beck led the Ramblers (3-3) with 17 points and Cole Bard added 14 points.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 62, CARRABEC 47: Hunter Frost scored 18 points as the Mustangs (4-1) prevailed at North Anson.

Isaac Oliveira chipped in with 10 points for Monmouth, and Manny Calder and Sammy Calder added nine points each.

Luke Carey scored 15 points and Joel Gherke 14 for the Cobras (2-3).

PORTLAND 45, EDWARD LITTLE 43: Kevin Rugabirwa hit a 3-pointer with one second to go as Portland rallied from a seven-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Edward Little in Auburn.

The Red Eddies (2-5) built a 40-33 lead. The Bulldogs (5-1) rallied to win it when Remijo Wani, playing his first game of the season, drove the lane and found Rugabirwa for the winner.

Rugabirwa and Pitia Donato had nine points each for Portland. Marshal Adams scored 13 points and Landon Cougle had 11 for Edward Little.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
HALL-DALE 93, OAK HILL 24: Hayden Madore (19 points) was one of four Bulldogs to score in double digits in a comfortable win in Farmingdale.

Amanda Trepanier added 15 points for Hall-Dale (5-0), followed by Jade Graham (12) and Marie Benoit (10).

Ariana Thibeault scored 10 points for Oak Hill (0-5).

MADISON 82, TELSTAR 23: Raegan Cowan scored 22 points as the Bulldogs (4-1) won easily at Madison.

Mackenzie Robbins added 16 points and Ashlee Clough 10 for Madison, which led 42-8 at the half.

Morgan Zetts led Telstar (1-3) with 14 points.

MONMOUTH ACADEMY 49, CARRABEC 48: The Mustangs (3-2) converted 11 of 17 free throws in the fourth quarter to hold off the Cobras (0-4) in Monmouth.

Kaitlyn Frost paced Monmouth with 16 points, including three foul shots in the fourth, when Carrabec outscored the Mustangs by two. Rileigh Chase and Holly Hunt each added eight points for Monmouth.

Lindsay Hamilton went off for 34 points for the Cobras, with 15 coming in the fourth.

GIRLS HOCKEY
ST. DOMINIC/WINTHROP/MONMOUTH 7, GREELY/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Gabby Allen scored four goals for the Saints (3-5) in the victory over the Rangers (0-8) at The Colisee in Lewiston.

Emily Andrews scored twice and Lauren Hanlon also scored while adding three assists. Chloe Beauchesne and Avia Dorman each notched an assist.

Abrianna White earned the shutout in goal for the Saints. Maddie Singer took the loss for the Rangers.

WINSLOW/GARDINER/CONY/LAWRENCE/MESSALONSKEE/MARANACOOK/ERSKINE/MT. BLUE 4, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE/LINCOLN/OCEANSIDE/BOTHBAY 3: Katie Berard had two goals and two assists to lead the Black Tigers (4-2) to a win over the Eagles in Brunswick.

Evelyn Rousseau and Alexa Caccamo also scored, and Abby Allen had an assist.

Remy LeBel and Marley LeBel each had a goal and an assist for the Eagles. Mallory Stuart got the other goal, and Alex Durant and Salin Bachor were credited with an assist.

BOYS HOCKEY
SOUTH PORTLAND/FREEPORT/WAYNFLETE 8, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 0: Tobey Lappin had three first-period goals as the Red Riots (3-2) took a 4-0 lead and cruised by the Eagles (1-3) at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland.

Ian Wright had two goals and an assist for South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete, while Ben Palson and Brady Angell each added a goal.

BOYS PREP HOCKEY
NYA 3, BB&N 0: Lewiston’s Daxton St. Hilaire scored a goal in the Panthers’ victory over the Knights at Travis Roy Arena in Yarmouth.

Cooper St. Hilaire and Connor Wolverton, also of Lewiston, notched assists.

Matt Brown and Nolan Pecora also scored for North Yarmouth Academy. Aidan Mcauslin made 17 saves for the shutout.

David Mallio made 45 saves for Buckingham Browne & Nichols in the loss.
