Joan C. Teixeira

AUBURN – Joan C. Teixeira, 78, of Lewiston peacefully passed away on Thursday Jan. 19, 2023, at the Hospice House in Auburn. She was born in Lewiston on June 7, 1944, a daughter of the late Ernest and Corinne (Paradis) Doyon. She grew up in the Lewiston area and attended local schools.

On Jan. 5, 1963, she married Andre Teixeira and they started a family together. During that time Joan worked mostly as a CNA for St. Mary’s and d’Youville Pavilion helping those in need for nearly 40 years. She loved her work and caring for the elderly patients. As most of her patients were French/Canadian, she would speak to them in French and she truly had a gift for making them feel at home.

Her nickname from her family and friends was “Chick”. She was a loving mother, wife and memere to her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and created beautiful pressed flower picture frames and jewelry boxes. Joan loves spending time with her family which would usually include playing cards, mini golf, trips to the casino or enthusiastically cheering on her children or grandchildren at their sporting events. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Andre Teixeira of Lewiston, her sons; Randy Teixeira and his wife Lisa of Lewiston and Shan Teixeira of Lewiston. She also leaves behind a brother, Donald Doyon of Lewiston and a sister, Doris Theberge of Lewiston along with her grandchildren; Ceara Teixeira and her husband Charlton Roberts of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Reece Teixeira and wife Sam of Raymond. She was predeceased by her brothers Roger and Raymond Doyon as well as her sisters; Carmen Cole, Muriel Deschaine, Jeanine Quinlan and a special Godchild, Carol Theberge.
