Theresa (Bell) Bryant

She was born in Van Buren on Aug. 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Ben and Alia (Lebel) Bell.

Theresa loved to tell stories of younger years and dancing the night away at local big band dances. While kicking up her heels one night, she met the love of her life Donald Bryant who swept her off her feet. They were happily married for 34 years until Donald predeceased her in March 1998. Theresa preferred to be on the go, traveling and staying active. She enjoyed telling how she drove from Maine to California in1945, which was quite a feat for a young 18-year-old without the luxury of GPS.

Theresa was employed at a variety of local businesses including the Bates Mill, Paragon Glass, Owen Moore and the Carriage House. Her favorite being retail as she was known for her fashion sense and was always dressed to the nines. She loved shopping and was always looking for the best sale and biggest bargain.

Theresa was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick’s and Holy Family Churches, attending services weekly.

Theresa was a devoted Nana to her beloved granddaughter Emily with whom she had a special bond. They skipped rope together well into her 80’s, took long walks and enjoyed many shopping trips always filled with laughter. They enjoyed many excursions to the “Ramadas” for the buffet, where she indulged her well known sweet tooth.

She loved her family and enjoyed spending time by the lake. She was always helping friends and family in need and opened her heart and home to all. She will be dearly missed.

She leaves her daughter, Heidi Bryant Jacques of Poland and her husband, Roland and granddaughter Emily Jacques of Denver, Colorado, and her boyfriend Mitchell Spurr; her son Kevin Bryant of Lisbon and his wife, Beth; and four brothers, Kenneth Bell of Mechanic Falls, Herbert Bell of New Hampshire, Normand Bell of Wales and Donald Bell of Texas.
