Mark E. Niskanen

AUBURN – Mark E. Niskanen, 62, passed away Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023, with his loving wife by his side, at The Hospice House in Auburn, Maine. He was born Dec. 5, 1960, to Charles and Audrey (Bartlett) Niskanen of Auburn, Maine.

Mark graduated from Oxford Hills High School. He went on to work several years with Jones Construction, and then went on to work periodically with Andy Moore, roofing and putting up Gas Station Canopies, until his disabilities from his cancer became too much. Mark loved spending time with his family, whether it be at home or at their family camp on Tripp Lake in Poland. He enjoyed snowmobiling, Nascar racing, building airplane and car models, he loved his new toy, and older model Z28, which he broke out of the storage just before he passed to take his granddaughter Kaylee for a ride, one which she will never forget. He loved his music and attended many, many concerts throughout his life. He had a huge heart and compassion for any animal. He especially loved his relationship with his dogs. “Pudgy” and his current companion Kodi.

He married the love of his life Debbie (Emery) Niskanen on Sept. 25, 1982, together they had three children, and three grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Debbie of Auburn, his sons Brent Niskanen and Bryan Niskanen, both of Mechanic Falls, and daughter Melanie Niskanen of Auburn, as well as his grandchildren, Caleb Niskanen, Kaylee Niskanen, and Brody Jenkins. His mother, Audrey Niskanen, and mother-in-law Sandra Emery, as well as many other family and friends.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Margaret Bartlett, his father Charles Niskanen and his brother Charles Niskanen Jr.

The family would like to thank Dr. Erikson, the staff at Cancer Care Center, and Androscoggin Home Health, and the Hospice House of Auburn.

A huge thank you also to all who have supported us through this tough time by either giving rides, bringing food and coffee and conversation and company. You are all very special.

The family is asking that you dress casual if you have any Racing or Concert T-shirts, older or new, please wear one in Marks honor.
