WALDOBORO — Sawyer Hathaway’s double-double and the clutch free throw shooting of Nick Morin and Declan Giroux were pivotal in Leavitt’s 49-41 boys basketball victory over Medomak Valley on Friday.

Hathaway scored 16 points and 10 rebounds and Giroux and Morin combined to make 9 of 10 free throws in the fourth quarter for the Hornets (5-9), who avenged a 65-27 loss to Medomak Valley on Dec. 13.

Giroux finished with 12 points. Morin had six points, along with 15 rebounds and five blocked shots.

Kory Donlin led the Panthers (12-3) with 12 points. Gabe Lash and Kevin Sincyr each scored 11.

OXFORD HILLS 73, DEERING 54: Teigan Pelletier dropped 28 points on the Rams (0-14) and Cole Pulkkinen added 19 as the Vikings (13-1) coasted to a victory in Portland.

Tanner Bickford scored 10 points for Oxford Hills.

Evan Legassey led Deering with 18 points. Sam Anderson chipped in 15 and Jamal Justin had 12.

CARRABEC 49, LISBON 39: Luke Carey’s game-high 21 points paced the Cobras (6-6) to a road win over the Greyhounds (8-6) in Lisbon.

Bobby Lindholm added 15 points and Joel Gehrke scored 10 for Carrabec. Carey and Lindholm each made three 3-pointers.

Levi Tibbetts led Lisbon with 19 points. Chase Mailhot added seven.

SCARBOROUGH 86, EDWARD LITTLE 82, OT: Liam Garriepy scored seven of his 24 points in overtime to help the Red Storm (4-10) edge the Red Eddies (4-10) in Scarborough.

Liam Jefferds contributed 20 points for South Portland. Carter Blanche had 16 points and Blake Harris notched 13.

Landon Cougle put in 27 points for Edward Little. Eli St. Laurent followed with 23 and Marshal Adams had 14.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 45, LEAVITT 32: Addison McCormick scored 17 points, Maya Cannon grabbed 18 rebounds, and the Panthers (9-5) beat the Hornets (6-7) in Turner.

Breck Langevin had a goal and an assist and Conner Boulay added a goal for Poland/Leavitt/Oak Hill/Gray-New Gloucester. Nic Michaud had two assists in the win, and goalie Cohen Landry stopped 18 shots.

Owen Galligan scored both goals for Fryeburg/Lake Region/Oxford Hills, and Kadan Neureuther tallied two assists. Nathan Metcalf made 24 saves.

SWIMMING
ANOTHER CASARES RECORD: Edward Little/Leavitt’s Andrew Casares set another team record during Friday’s meet against Brunswick, swimming the 100-yard breaststroke in 1 minute, 3.23 seconds.

Casares won the event. He also took first the boys 200 freestyle (1:52.36) and helped Edward Little/Leavitt earn wins in the 200 freestyle relay (with Jack Martel, Gavin Holbrook and Chase Leonardo) and in the 400 freestyle relay (with Leonard, Isaac Raymond and Holbrook).

The Edward Little/Leavitt boys beat Brunswick 91-55. The Dragons won the girls competition 89-56.
