The Mountain Valley boys basketball team played two road games in one day Tuesday, ultimately splitting the pair of Mountain Valley Conference contests.

The Falcons (9-7) first traveled 70-plus miles to face Wiscasset, and they aced the first test with a 63-35 victory over the Wolverines (0-14). Zach New was the lone Mountain Valley player in double figures, with 18, while Brayden Duguay added eight and Ben DeSalle, Colby Frisbie and Rilan Farnum pitched in with six apiece.

Mountain Valley then drove another 13 miles to Boothbay, where the Falcons capped off their doubleheader with a 61-46 loss. The Seahawks (9-5) took a 30-22 lead into halftime.

DIRIGO 81, TELSTAR 39: Four different Cougars (16-1) scored in double digits in the win over the Rebels (16-1) in Dixfield.

Nathaniel Wainwright led the way with 20 points and Arick Richard dropped in 16 points for Dirigo, which lost bounced back after losing its first game of the season Monday. Mason Ducharme and Charlie Houghton each netted 10 points.

Wyatt Lilly led Telstar with 11 points.

LISBON 51, MADISON 37: Levi Tibbetts led the Greyhounds (9-6) with 23 points in the win against the Bulldogs (7-7) in Lisbon.

Chase Mailhot dropped in 18 points for Lisbon.

Callan Franzose led Madison with 19 points.

POLAND 64, YORK 51: Johnny Patenaude scored 29 points to lead the Knights (4-1) to a win over the Wildcats (7-7) in Poland.

Hayden Christner added nine points for Poland.

Derek Parsons led York with 15 and Lukas Bouchard had nine points.

PORTLAND 56, EDWARD LITTLE 33: Remijo Wani scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs (12-4) over the Red Eddies (4-11) at the Portland Expo.

Jeissey Khamis posted 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists for Portland. Pitia Donato had six points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Landon Cougle had 12 points and Eli St. Laurent 10 for Edward Little.

ST. DOMINIC 51, SACOPEE VALLEY 45: Taylor Varney scored 13 points and the Saints (6-8) took control in the first half to defeat the Hawks (5-12) in Hiram.

Logan Carey added 10 points for St. Dom’s, which extended an 11-7 lead after the first quarter to 27-14 at halftime.

WINTHROP 75, BUCKFIELD 32: Matt Beck scored 20 points as the Ramblers (7-8) won easily in Winthrop.

Cole Bard added 11 points for Winthrop, which saw 12 players enter the scoring column.

Ayden Jefferson scored 14 points for Buckfield (2-13), while Ayden Jefferson had 10.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 74, FREEPORT 49: Nate Hebert scored 23 points, including five 3-pointers, and the Patriots (12-3) took control early to defeat the Falcons (4-12) in Gray.

Noah Hebert added 14 points, Carter Libby had 12 and Max Kenney 10 for Gray-New Gloucester, which led 18-9 after the first quarter and 34-21 at halftime.

J.T. Pound led Freeport with 10 points.

MT. ABRAM 87, OAK HILL 37: Bryce Wilcox netted a game-high 20 points for the Roadrunners (11-3) against the Raiders (3-12) in Wales.

Kaden Pillsbury and Cam Grey each added 15 points in the victory. Killian Pillsbury chipped in with 10 points.

Maverick Swan led Oak Hill with eight points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 51, FREEPORT 35: Alexandra Portas hit five 3-pointers for 15 points and Ella Kenney chipped in 10 as the Patriots (13-2) topped the Falcons (8-8) at Gray.

Emily Groves had 10 points to lead Freeport.

WINTHROP 65, MADISON 55: Morgan Fichthorn dropped 23 points as the Ramblers (11-5) took the win in Madison.

Madeline Wagner added 22 points for Winthrop.

Raegan Cowan led Madison (9-6) with a game-high 25 points and Ali Griffeth chipped in 11 points.

SACOPEE VALLEY 52, ST. DOMINIC 16: Emma Boulanger scored 18 points as the Hawks (9-8) handled the Saints (2-12) in Hiram.

Brooke Landry had nine points for Sacopee and Alex Schroder had eight.

Ava Apodaca, Charli Apodaca and Avery Gravel all had four points for St. Dom’s.

YORK 54, POLAND 19: Ava Brent scored 15 points and Nya Avery had 12 as the Wildcats (6-8) downed the Knights (0-14) at York.

MONMOUTH 53, OAK HILL 31: Kaitlyn Frost led the Mustangs (10-3) with 20 points in the win against the Raiders (7-8) in Monmouth.

Holly Hunt chipped in 12 points for Monmouth.

Ariana Thibeault led Oak Hill with 14 points.

BOYS HOCKEY
FRYEBURG/LAKE REGION/OXFORD HILLS 4, MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 2: Neil Heath and Jacob Lemery each had a goal and an assist in the Ice Cats’ (5-6-1) win over the Eagles (1-11) at Bridgton Ice Arena in Bridgton.

Cohen Carter and Conner Richard also scored. Caleb Micklon and Colin Murphy had two assists each while Nathan Metcalf stopped 24 shots in net.

Finn Dedek and Gerek Theriault potted goals for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Hyde. Jonny Hole had an assist and James Paquette turned aside 17 shots in the loss.
