BUCKFIELD — Eli Desmond and Ethan Vattaso each scored 12 points as Oak Hill dismissed Buckfield with a 77-39 victory in a Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball game on Monday.

The Raiders (4-13) jumped out to 33-17 lead by halftime against the Bucks (3-14). Oak Hill’s Gage Spier and Cooper Scott each contributed 11 points and Maverick Swan added 10.

Buckfield’s Ayden Jefferson did most of the heavy work on offense, scoring a game-high 29 points.

MT. ABRAM 45, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 41: The Roadrunners (14-3) overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to earn a big win over the Phoenix (13-4) in Salem Township.

Mt. Abram led 14-3 after the first quarter, but then was held to six points in each of the next two quarters and trailed 36-26 heading into the fourth.

In the final period the Roadrunners limited the Phoenix to five points while three Mt. Abram players accounted for all 19 of the team’s points: Cam Grey made two 3-pointers and scored eight, Bryce Wilcox had six and Payton Mitchell five.

Those three accounted for all but two of the Roadrunners’ 45 points: Mitchell led the way with 16 points, while Wilcox finished with 15 and Grey had 12. Killian Pillsbury scored the other two points.

Ian York, who made three 3s, was Spruce Mountain’s top scorer with 15 points. Elie Timler scored nine and Jace Bessey (two 3s) added eight.

LISBON 62, WINTHROP 55: Levi Tibbetts and Chase Mailhot each scored 16 points to lead the Greyhounds (10-8) past the Ramblers in Lisbon.

Gavin Grenier helped out with 11 points for Lisbon.

Braden Branagan and Matt Beck scored 22 and 15 points, respectively, for Winthrop (7-10).

WAYNFLETE 60, POLAND 42: Nico Kirby had 14 points to pace the host Flyers (11-6) as they grabbed a 16-8 lead after one quarter and pulled away from the Knights (4-13) at Portland.

Cole Isherwood tossed in 12 points for Waynflete and Connor Ford added 10.

John Patenaude led Poland with 19 points.

ST. DOMINIC 59, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 36: Taylor Varney led the Saints (7-10) as they hit nine 3-pointers in beating the Guardians (6-11) at Eliot.

Isaac Yombe had 12 points for St. Dominic.

Sunny Johnson led Seacoast Christian with 14 points.

MONMOUTH 49, NYA 26: The Mustangs (14-3) rallied with a 15-5 second quarter to take a 19-13 halftime lead and cruised past the Panthers (5-12) at Yarmouth.

Sammy Calder contributed 17 points for Monmouth Academy, and Gavin Gregor had 15.

Moses Semuhoza had 10 points to lead North Yarmouth Academy.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
OXFORD HILLS 48, BRUNSWICK 44: Sierra Carson scored 11 second half points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Vikings past the Dragons in a battle of two of the state’s top girls basketball teams in Brunswick.

Brunswick (15-2) took a quick 7-2 lead, but Oxford Hills (16-1) rallied to tie it 10-10 after one quarter. The Vikings, who made just one of their first 10 3-point attempts, then got late 3s from Gabbie Tibbetts and Molly Corbett to take a 19-15 lead at halftime.

Oxford Hills went up by 12 in the third period, but the Dragons rallied within 32-24 heading into the fourth, and when Alexis Morin made a layup with 2:17 to go, the Vikings led by only one, 43-42. Corbett (14 points) then drained a 3-pointer and after Kelsie Carlton drove for a layup to make it 46-44, Ella Pelletier (eight points) hit two clutch free throws to clinch it.

Carson finished with a game-high 15 points.
Brunswick was led by Dakota Shipley and Maddy Werner, who had 10 points apiece.

OAK HILL 63, BUCKFIELD 39: Peyton Gonya scored 20 points and Aubrey McElhaney and Ari Thibeault dropped in 16 and 13, respectively, to direct the Raiders (8-10) past the Bucks (3-14) in Wales.

Kianna Finnegan scored nine points and Sarae Defoe had eight for Buckfield.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 48, ST. DOM’S 33: Breckyn Winship scored 28 points and pulled down 17 boards for the Guardians (8-9) as they topped the Saints (2-15) at Eliot.

Ellie Odess had eight points, all in the first half, and had five steals.

Charli Apodaca had four 3-pointers for St. Dominic and finished with 18 points.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 58, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 34: Aubrey Kachnovich and Jaydn Pingree each scored 16 points to lead the Phoenix (16-1) past the Falcons (7-9) in Rumford.

Avery Bessey made four 3-pointers and contributed 14 points for Spruce Mountain.

Alyvia Theriault led Mountain Valley with 11 points, while Brooke Bennett and Madi Dow each scored eight.

NYA 74, MONMOUTH 25: Sarah English’s 19 points highlighted a group of four players who scored in double figures for the Panthers (16-1) in their road win over the Mustangs (11-5) in Monmouth.

Graca Bila had 18 points, Ella Giguere chipped in 13 and Madilyn Onorato added 10 for North Yarmouth Academy.

Kaitlyn Frost, Holly Hunt and Grace Levesque each scored eight points for Monmouth.

WINTHROP 58, KENTS HILL 43: Morgan Fitchhorn threw in 15 points and pulled down 16 rebounds as the Ramblers (12-6) rolled to a victory against the Huskies (16-2) in Winthrop.

Bella Littler and Madeline Wagner each scored 13 for Winthrop. Wagner went 7 for 9 from the free-throw line.

Kents Hill’s Logan McDonald turned in a game-high 17 points and Rose Jenkins added 14.
