LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Town Office for a final review of the proposed 2023-24 budget of nearly $3.3 million.

The board and Budget Committee will vote on the proposal, which is an overall increase of $377,202.09 from the 2022-23 budget.

The majority of the increase is for the contingency and capital improvement accounts. The sum of $30,000 was added to contingency for a salary study to make sure town employees are being appropriately compensated. That brought that line to $40,000.

The sum of $35,000 was added to the $15,000 proposed in capital improvements for the Fire Department for a firetruck. Also in the proposed capital improvement account is $75,000 for a partial payment on a new 10-wheel dump and plow truck.

There is also $23,500 for one compactor container and one open top container for the Transfer Station. In addition there is $21,000 for a partial payment on a new police cruiser.

Some money may be used from the remaining American Rescue Plan Act allotment to offset some equipment expenses, Jim Long, chairman of the Select Board, said last week.

Voters will decide on the budget by ballot April 25 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fire Station.
