At this writing, the news is that we’re due for a couple days of way-sub-zero weather – brr! How to live with it? The Age-Friendly Community Initiative suggests our Walk the Gym program every Tuesday and Thursday, 1-2 p.m. at Gould Academy’s Field House – warm and lots of space for all the friendly people you’ll meet.

There are plenty of community activities and events – both indoor and outdoor – listed below. Our N2N (Neighbor to Neighbor) drivers can get you there; call the service number below.

One of our AFCI readers shares a favorite idea for Valentine’s Day. Nano Zachary says, “Valentine’s day is one of my favorite days – such a wonderful opportunity to recognize people who have been kind to us.” She then shares her recipe for dough valentine ornaments. Thursday, February 9: BAAM’s Singer Songwriter Circle; same night: Denny Breau at Suds Hoot Night; Friday, February 10 at the Bethel Inn: Brad Hooper; Saturday, February 11: music at Loose Boots Lounge; same night at Shipyard Brew Haus: Stoney Coast. The next Soup’s On is from 11-1 on Wednesday, February 15 at the Bethel Methodist Church (free). Community Suppers (free, open to all) – last Wednesday of the month, 4:30-6 p.m., Bethel Alliance Church. Eat-in or take-out.

Conversation, coffee, and a bagel or doughnut, every Thursday, 9-noon, at Bethel Alliance Church; come for one hour or all three.

Bethel Food Pantry: EVERY Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, 9-11 a.m. Bring shopping bags and choose your own food; volunteers pack your bags and deliver them to your car.
