Gillian Countway checks out the new, studded shoes on her horse, Fleur, Tuesday afternoon at Underwood Farm in Auburn where she boards the former racehorse, a granddaughter of the famous racehorse Seattle Slew. Dashiell Jorgensen, a farrier from Brunswick, had just fitted Fleur with the studded shoes for better grip. Countway got the horse last summer and is training with her to ride in various competitions this coming season. Russ Dillingham/Sun Journal
